Gamescom is the biggest video game trade fair that takes place in Germany every year. Due to the Corona Virus outbreak, Germany has suspended flights. Besides the whole world has banned travel for further containment of the pandemic. Therefore, the Gamescom 2020 has been canceled the live trade show. The game – Verband der Deutschen Games-Branche has announced that this trade show will take place digitally. The news came because it is not possible to organize the convention as the German government has extended the lockdown until April 19.
Gamescon was scheduled to happen from 25-29 August in Cologne, Germany. The COVID-19 has struck Germany very hard and the organizer has confirmed through twitter account saying that “Even though not all details are known at present, the nationwide ban on major events until the end of August will also affect the planning for #gamescom2020. Furthermore: Gamescom 2020 will definitely take place digitally! We will provide further information shortly.”
The organizer confirmed on March 31 that they will hold the event and this is going to expand its digital presence significantly. But it seems like the announcement will remain in word. This gaming convention attracts around 4,00,000 people from around the world and this is taking place every year since 2009.
